Head Swim Coach My
name is Brian Thomas and I am very excited to be part of the Georgetown Swimming
Family this summer as your Head Swim Coach, CPO and Private Lessons Instructor.
I started my swim career in WISC swimming 8 seasons with the Ann Arbor Country
Club. I spent my high school years swimming for Dexter High School. At Eastern
Michigan University I was able to explore new aquatic paths playing water polo
on two MAC championship teams and graduating in 1999. For the past three years
I have been at Chelsea High School as both boys and girls assistant swim coach
and head coach of Chelsea Girls Water Polo. I am back at Eastern pursuing my
teacher’s certification as well as a Social Studies degree to keep my History
degree company. My wife Jana and I live in Manchester and my spare time, when
not studying or coaching, is spent fixing our old home in town. I am very
excited to relive all the great times I had being a swimmer in WISC and I hope
to continue these memories with my new family at Georgetown Country Club.

2008 Assistant Swim
Coach
Hi, my name is Jenay Karlson and I am very
pleased and excited to be Georgetown’s Assistant Swim Coach for this summer. I
began competitive USS swimming when I was 11 years old and swam year round
through high school. I moved out to Ann Arbor in 1999 to join the University of
Michigan Women’s Swim Team where I was fortunate enough to have competed at Big
Tens, NCAAs and the 2000 Olympic Trials. During summers in college I often
helped coach youth summer swim camps either at Club Wolverine or with my home
team in San Diego. After undergrad I began coaching with Ann Arbor Swim Club Y
(now Club Wolverine) where I ran their developmental age-group workouts, and
assisted with the junior high and high school swim practices and dry land
workouts. I have taken the past 3 years off from coaching to work in education
and psychology research and attend graduate school. I am currently finishing up
my master’s degree at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work in
Social Policy and Evaluation. I am looking forward to being back on the pool
deck this summer to have a lot of fun with a great group of swimmers.
2008 Head Dive Coach
My name is
Gretchen Plamondon, I am thrilled to be a part of GTCC this year. I will be the
diving coach as well as the pool manager. I began my diving career as a
freshman in high school and continued to dive through college at Eastern
Michigan University where I developed as a diver as well as a coach. I was the
diving coach for the Novi high school girl’s team this past year and have been
coaching at legacy diving for the past 3 years. I have been a part of the WISC
circuit for the past 6 years coaching at Chippewa country club. I graduated
from EMU in 2006 with a degree in physical education and health education. I
have been substitute teaching since I graduated and I am currently looking for a
permanent teaching job in the Ann Arbor area. I look forward to getting to know
the families at GTCC and I know we will have an enjoyable and successful
summer. Questions about the upcoming season? Contact me at
